Come join us next week to hear from two outstanding Hemispheres alumni about their passion for IR at Tufts and beyond. A fantastic pre-professional opportunity for any IR/PoliSci students curious about where their major may take them. All are welcome! Food will be provided. Stephen Davis was the founder of Hemispheres and contributed to the creation of the Tufts Council on International Affairs in 1976, which would eventually prompt the development of the IR major at Tufts. As a pioneer in the field of sustainable corporate governance, Mr. Davis is now a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Law School Program on Corporate Governance. Kristen Gunness was on the editorial board of Hemispheres during her time at Tufts, and is now a Senior Research Fellow at RAND, specializing on security in the Indo-Pacific and Chinese foreign policy. Mrs. Gunness has worked with a range of Department of Defense and private sector clients, including her time as the Director of the Navy Asia Pacific Advisory Group at the Pentagon, where she advised the Chief of Naval Operations on security, maritime, and foreign policy trends in the Indo-Pacific region.

Many of us are wondering post-election about the considerable demographic shift in this presidential election since the last one: the Latine vote. In this space, we will come together to debrief about the election results, then explore further into the threads that allow us to understand why Latine people voted in this election the way they did. We will explore colorism, machismo, among other topics during this event. We will base this discussion in histories of Latin America in order to understand the current political climate among the non-monolithic Latine group in the US.
