Description
The Spaceport America Cup is the world's largest intercollegiate rocketry design-build-fly competition, with 150+ schools from 86+ countries competing in multiple categories. This year, the Tufts SEDS Rocketry Team will compete for the first time ever, in the 10,000-ft COTS category; the goal is to loft a Tufts student-developed CubeSat prototype (a small satellite) as close to 10,000 feet in altitude as possible.
This competition represents the culmination of years of efforts to grow the Rocketry Team from small model rockets to larger-scale team projects that provide students with an excellent method to showcase their engineering expertise, teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the CubeSat prototype that will fly on the rocket is the first step in building and launching a small satellite into space, which is the ultimate goal of the Tufts SEDS CubeSat project team.
