FY22 Fringe Benefit Rates

The Office of Budget and Planning is pleased to announce a new rate agreement with Health and Human Services (HHS) for the recovery of fringe benefit costs charged to sponsored grants and contracts. The new rates are effective from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022. The rates are as follows:
Restricted Full Time 26.5%
Mandated 8.0%
Post Doc 20.3%
Faculty Summer Supplement 16.5%
The above fringe benefit rates and the latest HHS Rate Agreement will soon be updated and available on Finance & Planning's website.
If for some reason you need the provisional fringe rates after FY22, typically for proposal submissions during the spring, please contact Amy Gustavsson at ext. 78863 or Lisa Halpert at ext. 73719.

Beginning tomorrow (December 16th), all exams will shift to an online format. Faculty may elect to use other formats to evaluate students. Faculty are responsible for communicating with students about exams. SMFA Review Boards are happening as usual on the SMFA campus. Libraries, laboratories, and dining services will remain open. For students who wish to remain on campus to accommodate their travel arrangements, you are welcome to do so. Campus operations remain as normal. You may contact the Dean of Student Affairs with questions. If you need immediate support resources, please know that the University Chaplaincy, Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMHS), Ears for Peers, the Division of Student Diversity and Inclusion, the International Center, and the Dean of Student Affairs Office on the Medford/Somerville campus are all available to support you. - New Mileage Rate for July 1, 2022In recognition of recent gasoline price increases, the Internal Revenue Service has announced an increase in the mileage reimbursement rate for the final six months of 2022. Effective July 1, 2022, the standard mileage rate for business travel will be 62.5 cents per mile, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of the year. The new rate for moving expenses will be 22 cents for the remainder of 2022, up 4 cents from the rate effective at the start of 2022. Please contact Tufts Support Services with any questions.
