Description
Tufts South Asian Regional Committee presents, "A Narmada Diary", a 1995 documentary directed by Anand Patwardhan and Simantini Dhuru about the Sardar Sarovar Dam Project and its effect on the local population and the Narmada Bachao Andolan movement. The film investigates the complex relationship between local perspectives, climate justice, and industrialization, providing an inside look into the lives of those displaced by the dam's inception and how industrialization-even with the intention of sustainability-can possess negative impacts, marginalizing local communities further and generating new inequities. Join SARC as we conclude our Spring Symposium with "A Narmada Diary" Film Screening to reflect on the past as we prepare for an climate unconcious future. A limited amount of pizza will be available: first come, first served.
