In the landmark Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) vs. Harvard U.S. Supreme Court case, fears of anti-Asian American discrimination in college admissions were used to make the case against affirmative action. When the court ruled in favor of SFFA in 2023, it barred the consideration of race in college admissions. Admissions Granted explores the complex issues around Asian Americans, college admissions, and affirmative action. Join a special screening and post-screening discussion with the film's co-directors Miao Wang and Hao Wu; Tufts Dean of Undergraduate Admissions JT Duck; and Tufts undergraduate Anevay Ybanez (Sociology and Film & Media Studies). All undergraduate/graduate students are welcome to attend fitness classes led by trained student instructors! Classes are free and open to all levels of experience. Please come to the Hill Hall Aerobics Room (entrance is at the back of Hill Hall, up the stairs to the right of the mail room) five minutes prior to class start time. At YAIS, young, bright minds will convene alongside African industry leaders to deconstruct issues and produce resolutions across various enterprises. Their symposium is designed to move beyond the standard discussion of Africa’s challenges by focusing on creating actionable solutions. The conference emphasizes innovative thinking and problem-solving as an important avenue for change. The two-day symposium will take place on Yale's campus on February 7th-8th, 2025, and is open to undergraduates, graduates, and young professionals passionate about innovation in Africa.
