These will be held in the Dewick Conference Room, with the exception of October 8th, which will be held in room 209 of the Campus Center. Please feel free to bring your own dinner to the Campus Center that day. These conversation tables are open to all levels! There is also the opportunity for extra credit towards select Tufts French courses (please consult with your instructor). What happens when a summer fellowship becomes the launchpad for a career in civic leadership? Twenty years ago, the Tisch Summer Fellows (TSF) program began placing Tufts students in hands-on civic internships across the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. Since then, TSF alumni have gone on to shape the world as organizers, researchers, policymakers, educators, and beyond. This special anniversary panel brings together TSF alumni to reflect on their journeys and current students who are just starting theirs. Together, they’ll explore how civic learning at Tufts continues to shape lives, careers, and communities long after graduation. Registration required, all are welcome. Lunch provided.
Meet the Panelists

Chad Fisher, N24 is the Principal Research Analyst (GIS planner for Parks & Facilities) at the Boston Parks & Recreation Department. He works on issues small and large including generating snow removal maps for all 305 properties the department manages, participating in citywide climate resilience planning, and designing interactive web maps for the city website. He served two years with AmeriCorps, graduated with a masters in Agriculture, Food, and Environment (concentration in spatial data science) from the Friedman School, completed a Tisch Summer Fellowship at Speak for the Trees, Boston, and worked at the Tufts Data Lab before his current role. Outside of work, Chad enjoys knitting, biking, and exploring the city he calls home. Nate Hall, A25, Legislative Aide for Representative Ken Gordon. The national American Society of Mechanical Engineers hosts a conference every year, and this year ASME at Tufts is planning to attend. We are excited to learn about advances in the Mechanical Engineering field, and we are also looking forward to connecting with other ASME chapters to expand ASME at Tufts. The conference is a 5 day event, with 3 days of panels and presentations open to students.

Join this year's joint Russell Lecture and Solomont Speaker Series event with Tufts alumnus, Varun Soni, A96! Soni is the Dean of Religious and Spiritual life at the University of Southern California, where he also served as the inaugural vice provost of campus wellness and crisis intervention. He is the first and only Hindu in American history to serve as the chief spiritual leader of a college or university. Dean Soni previously taught civil rights and constitutional law at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A prolific public speaker and scholar of religions, Dean Soni is a national interfaith leader and advocate for religious reconciliation. Outside of his role as Dean, Soni serves as a senior advisor for Religion of Sports, a production company founded by Tom Brady, Michael Strahan, and Gotham Chopra, and he also advises the video game company Naughty Dog, where he contributed to the Uncharted and The Last of Us franchises. He's been a consultant for HBO, ESPN, Showtime, A&E, History Channel, Live Nation, and the Oprah Winfrey Network, and produced the graphic novel Tina’s Mouth: An Existential Comic Diary. This event is jointly hosted by Tisch College's Solomont Speaker Series and by the University Chaplaincy's Russell Lecture, the oldest lectureship at Tufts University. It is cosponsored by the Asian American Center and Experimental College at Tufts. Registration required. A reception in Eaton 250 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. will follow the public lecture. All are welcome.

Anna Miller, Senior Multimedia Producer at Tufts University and the creative mind behind the acclaimed documentary The Snowy Owls of Logan Airport, knows how. She’ll share how her work brings science, nature, and human experience to life through film, and how media can inspire curiosity, awareness, and action. We’ll screen her nine-minute snowy owl documentary, a project outside of her Tufts work that highlights her passion for storytelling wherever it takes her. From Logan Airport runways to Tufts classrooms and labs, Miller shows how visual narratives can open our eyes to new perspectives and move ideas forward. Attendees will hear about her creative process, the challenges of capturing real-life stories, and the ways thoughtful storytelling can make audiences think, and act differently. The Tufts 3MT competition (Three Minute Thesis) is an academic event designed for graduate students to present their research concisely, typically lasting three minutes. Participants present their work using a single static slide, aiming to communicate the significance of their research to a non-specialist audience. The competition encourages students to develop their presentation and research communication skills, making their work more accessible to a broader audience.
