Students from the Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) and the Graduate Student Council (GSC) of the Graduate Schools of Engineering, Arts and Sciences, and the Museum of Fine Arts are organizing a full-day trip to the King Richard's Faire in Carver, MA on Saturday, October 11th .
A Renaissance Faire is an outdoor festival that recreates a renaissance-inspired historical fantasy setting, with a focus on entertainment, food, and crafts. It's a blend of historical re-enactment and fantasy, where attendees often dress up in period costumes and enjoy many types of performances, artisan goods, and food and drinks. Suggestions for easy, cost effective costumes and ways to use items that are already in your closet can be sent upon request.
The gates of the Faire are open between 10:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Students will be able to sign up for group bus transportation to the fairgrounds, leaving from the Tufts Community Union at the Medford main campus at 8:45 AM and returning around 7:30 PM. Students may arrive independently and leave the faire before 6:00 PM, but the group bus will only be making ONE trip back to Medford after the Faire closes for the day.
Group tickets are expected to cost around $20.00 per ticket, a savings of 60%!
While the Renaissance Faire is open to all ages, the Tufts Graduate Student Group Discount and bus transportation will only be available to adults.

How can art bear witness to the most difficult truths, help communities heal and promote action? Material Witness: Then and Now, a mixed-media exhibit by Boston artist and Tisch College Coordinator Nancy Marks, draws on her mother's experience as a Holocaust survivor to explore how creativity processes loss, amplifies voices, and sparks dialogue. It also examines how memory, history, and civic responsibility intersect with the realities facing immigrants today. Marks uses printmaking, poetry and excerpts from her mother’s memoir. Material Witness: Then and Now will be installed in the Barnum Hall lobby in early October, and this Civic Life Lunch gives participants the opportunity to engage more deeply with the exhibit alongside the artist. Nancy will guide participants through the exhibit and share her perspective on how art can carry forward stories, histories, and collective memory. Together, we’ll consider how civic engagement is not only about action in the present, but also about the ways we remember and honor the past. Registration required, all are welcome. Lunch provided. Learn more about Nancy Marks and her work.
