The event will give us a chance to explore the life of one of America's greatest living diplomats. From his role in the 1972 Nixon-Kissinger negotiations with Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai to his tenure as American Ambassador to Beijing and Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs in Washington D.C., Lord has been instrumental in shaping China policy. Come join Ambassador Lord, former U.S. Ambassador to China from 1985 to 1989, Kelly Sims Gallagher, Dean of The Fletcher School at Tufts University and former Senior China Advisor in the Special Envoy for Climate Change office at the U.S. State Department, and Orville Schell, Vice President and Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at the Asia Society, to hear Lord's 60 years of U.S.-China relations career to better understand how the U.S.-China relationship got to where we are and where he thinks we might be headed.
