A Renaissance Faire is an outdoor festival that recreates a renaissance-inspired historical fantasy setting, with a focus on entertainment, food, and crafts. It's a blend of historical re-enactment and fantasy, where attendees often dress up in period costumes and enjoy many types of performances, artisan goods, and food and drinks. Suggestions for easy, cost effective costumes and ways to use items that are already in your closet can be sent upon request.
The gates of the Faire are open between 10:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Students will be able to sign up for group bus transportation to the fairgrounds, leaving from the Tufts University at the Mayer Campus Center at 9:00 AM, and pick up from Tufts University at 145 Harrison Ave, MA 02111 at 8:30 AM and dropping off from the destination around 7:30 PM. How can art bear witness to the most difficult truths, help communities heal and promote action? Material Witness: Then and Now, a mixed-media exhibit by Boston artist and Tisch College Coordinator Nancy Marks, draws on her mother's experience as a Holocaust survivor to explore how creativity processes loss, amplifies voices, and sparks dialogue. It also examines how memory, history, and civic responsibility intersect with the realities facing immigrants today. Marks uses printmaking, poetry and excerpts from her mother’s memoir. Material Witness: Then and Now will be installed in the Barnum Hall lobby in early October, and this Civic Life Lunch gives participants the opportunity to engage more deeply with the exhibit alongside the artist. Nancy will guide participants through the exhibit and share her perspective on how art can carry forward stories, histories, and collective memory. Together, we’ll consider how civic engagement is not only about action in the present, but also about the ways we remember and honor the past. Registration required, all are welcome. Lunch provided. Learn more about Nancy Marks and her work.

Apple picking is a fall harvest tradition that grew out of farming life in North America and Europe. Apples were introduced to New England by European settlers in the 1600s, who brought seeds and saplings from abroad. Over time, orchards became central to local communities, not just as food sources but also as social gathering spaces.
Orchards began inviting families, students, and visitors to pick their own apples right from the trees; celebrating the harvest season while connecting people back to the land. Today, apple picking is seen as a hallmark of autumn, especially in New England. Beyond gathering fruit, it’s about enjoying the crisp air, the changing leaves, and seasonal treats like cider and donuts. For many, it represents a nostalgic, cozy, and communal way to welcome the fall.
This year, Graduate Students Council is inviting all the graduate students to the Apple picking event that will take place on 11th October from 12 pm till 4pm at Honey Pot Hill Orchards. We will be having a party agenda consisting of hay wagon rides, games, Apple picking , getting lost in hedge maze, visiting the farm animals and more. Students are encouraged to dress comfortably for the outdoors; layers, sneakers/boots, and a reusable bag or tote for carrying apples are recommended. The orchard is open between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Students will be able to sign up for group bus transportation to the orchard, leaving from the Tufts University at the Mayer Campus Center Medford at 10:00 AM and returning around 4:00 PM. Students may arrive independently and leave the orchard before 4:00 PM, but the group bus will only be making ONE trip back to Tufts University, Mayer Campus Center at 4:00PM.
Come celebrate with us; pick some apples, enjoy cider, make new memories with fellow graduate students. Learn more at http://tufts.presence.io/event/apple-picking-2025 - Oct 181:00 PMUrinetown: The MusicalJumbo Life Calendar | Cohen Auditorium
