MEDFORD - The 2022 spring sports teams at Tufts University placed 235 student-athletes on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Teams released today. That's the most out of the 11 schools in the conference.

Nearly 1,600 student-athletes overall have been named to the 2022 NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team. To be honored, an individual must have reached sophomore academic standing, and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 or equivalent on a 4.0 scale. Transfers must have completed one year of study at an institution.

Representatives from Tufts' baseball, golf, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's rowing, women's rowing, sailing, softball, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's outdoor track & field and women's outdoor track & field are represented among the 235 Jumbo honorees.

Among the Jumbos on the All-Academic Team who won major NESCAC awards for their sport are Softball Pitcher of the Year Sophia DiCocco, Softball Defensive Player of the Year Josie Steinberg, Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year Molly Laliberty and Men’s Track & Field Most Outstanding Performer Luke Botsford.

Of the conference student-athletes to garner All-Academic honors this spring, 172 earned both All-Academic and All-NESCAC accolades and 78 individuals were named to both the All-Sportsmanship and All-Academic Teams. A total of 12 student-athletes were named to all three squads, including Jumbos Josh Belandres (Men’s Tennis), Cora Kakalec (Women’s Track & Field) and Jack Meehan (Men’s Golf).
