MEDFORD - Senior Isaac Gorelik of the Tufts University men's tennis team is one of 15 Division III student-athletes in the nation to be named to the 2022 Academic All-America® men's at-large first team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This is the second straight year in which Gorelik is receiving the recognition, as he was on the second team for 2021. He is the only individual from a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) school to earn a first team selection, and he is one of just four from New England Division III schools.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately names honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The At-Large teams are the most competitive to make due to the large number of sports from which nominees are taken. The Men's At-Large Team accepts nominations in the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Gorelik graduated in May with a degree in data science and applied mathematics. From Weston, Massachusetts, he is heading to Stanford University to pursue a master's degree in computer science.

He played #1 singles and #2 doubles for a Jumbo team that finished 20-3 overall including 9-1 in the NESCAC, and advanced to the conference championship match. After earning the program's first NCAA bid since 2004 the team made it all the way to the "Final Four". Individually, Gorelik was an NCAA Singles semifinalist and earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American honors for the second straight year. He was at #3 in the ITA's final Division III singles rankings, while the Jumbos finished #4 in the team rankings.

A member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Society at Tufts, he is a native Russian speaker who is also proficient in Spanish and Hebrew (along with English). He was also involved on a campus with TAMID, the Tufts Blockchain Club, the Tufts Standup Comedy Collective and he is a Green Dot Ambassador. Last spring Gorelik was the recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 award for the 2021 Division III Men's Tennis Championship, given to the player with the highest grade point average at the site.
