NEIBA Honors Announced for DeMaria and Reid

MEDFORD - Seniors Peter DeMaria (pictured, left) and Miles Reid (pictured, right) of the Tufts University baseball team have received New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) honors for the 2022 season.

They are two of 15 players in the region named to the NEIBA team. Reid will also play in the 2022 NEIBA All-Star Game which takes place today (June 6) at Dunkin' Stadium in Hartford, Conn. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

DeMaria is the region's top selection at first base after an outstanding season at the plate. He hit .407 with a .671 sluggling percentage and 1.147 OPS. His 13 doubles and eight home runs were among 57 total hits and he drove home 37 runs in 36 games. All of these stats placed him among the top six in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

Reid, one of four outfielders honored, was NESCAC's batting champion with a .462 mark and led the league in hits with 66. He compiled an outstanding .541 on-base percentage including 22 walks. He added power with 13 doubles helping lead to a 1.135 OPS. His 41 runs scored were fourth in the conference.

Both Jumbos played excellent defense. DeMaria made just two errors in 232 total chances at first base for a .991 fielding percentage. Reid did not make an error in 76 total chances in center.

Head coach Paul Svagdis' Jumbos finished 24-12 this spring.
