Is this what a career in cybersecurity looks like? Is it just like the movies where your fingers race across a keyboard to prevent attackers from breaking into the system? Not quite, but the implications are very much the same. All it takes is a few of the right flaws strung together to make the news for all of the wrong reasons. This is where Braun Lippe's line of work comes in. Day in, day out, Lippe and his team work to identify, prioritize, and remediate these weaknesses before attackers can get to them. In turn, their efforts keep the lights on and protect our hundreds of millions of customers and their billions of dollars in transactions every single day. In this talk, Braun will share his story, from where he got started, how he got hooked, and what he is doing now. Braun will discuss his experience in cybersecurity engineering and vulnerability management, specifically, what it takes to build and operate systems that protect companies at scale. Whether or not you are considering a career in cybersecurity, Braun's goal is to provide valuable information and insights into a field that protects most of the things people can’t live without. Braun Lippe recently graduated from the Tufts University School of Engineering with a B.S. in computer science and a minor in economics. He now works at PayPal as a cybersecurity engineer on their threat exposure management team in New York City. During his time at Tufts, Braun was a defenseman on the varsity lacrosse team and a clinician for the Tufts Cybersecurity Clinic.
